Every output remains a draft until reviewed, corrected, and finalized by the responsible clinician. Nothing is auto-submitted or auto-signed.
VeloNote works alongside existing EMRs using approved PDF upload and copy-and-paste workflows. No EMR integration, no IT project. Individual physicians may subscribe directly, subject to their organization's privacy, security, and technology policies.
About VeloNote — Built by a Physician Who Knows the Problem
VeloNote was created by Brian Lawenda, MD, a practicing physician who saw firsthand how much clinical time was being consumed by searching through fragmented medical records before patient visits. VeloNote helps organize those records into a structured pre-visit clinical draft so physicians can spend less time reconstructing the chart and more time understanding the patient.
Dr. Lawenda is a U.S.-based radiation oncologist with over 20 years of clinical experience delivering complex cancer care in highly regulated healthcare systems. He completed his radiation oncology residency at Harvard Medical School / Massachusetts General Hospital and is a former Commander in the United States Navy with 13 years of active-duty service. VeloNote reflects this background: a practical understanding of how clinicians work, how healthcare organizations are regulated, and how technology must operate to earn trust.
It is not an ambient scribe and does not depend on recording the patient encounter. VeloNote works before the visit, organizing the information clinicians need to review before they walk into the room.
Security & HIPAA Compliance — Security Built for Clinical Workflows
Only the authorized user can view their patients' PHI. VeloNote personnel — including the founder, employees, developers, administrators, and support staff — cannot access or browse uploaded patient files or generated clinical content. There is no administrative pathway to browse patient records.
Patient information is available only within the authorized user's active VeloNote session and is automatically deleted when the user moves to the next patient, ends the session, or closes the browser. Backups do not contain patient PHI. Patient information is not used to train public AI models.
VeloNote operates on HIPAA-eligible cloud infrastructure across AWS and Google Cloud Platform, with encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256), strict access controls, and comprehensive audit logging (CloudTrail, CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs). The infrastructure used to process protected health information is covered by appropriate Business Associate Agreements.

Privacy Policy
VeloNote is committed to protecting privacy while supporting secure, compliant clinical workflows. Account and system metadata are stored in encrypted databases; uploaded files are processed transiently and not retained beyond processing where technically feasible. VeloNote does not sell personal data or PHI and does not use patient data to train AI models. This Privacy Policy does not replace an executed Business Associate Agreement (BAA).
